National Lottery Open Week (March 2025)
The British Commercial Vehicle Museum is thrilled to announce that we are one of many venues participating in this year’s National Lottery Open Week. The scheme sees projects, shows and exhibitions supported by the National Lottery come together to say thank you to The National Lottery Players who have helped raise money to aid venues such as ourselves.
The ‘Up Another Gear’ Project (Funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund)
In 2015 the Museum was awarded a grant of £1.8million by the Heritage Lottery Fund, with work on the ‘Up Another Gear’ Project beginning in late 2017 and concluding in late 2018. The Museum’s Exhibition Hall re-opened to the public on the 26th January 2019. – This grant was instrumental in helping shape the Museum into what our visitors see today.

- Funded a major refurbishment of the Museum building including the installation of a new roof – As part of this extensive refurbishment interactive displays, including a lorry driving simulator and touch screens containing information on our exhibits were installed
- Funded the installation of new lighting and heating systems
- Funded the construction of a new Archive Department… which houses and extensive collection of material including over 300,000 glass negatives, vehicle build sheets and workshop manuals
- Funded the design and development of a new website for the Museum
- Funded the construction of an on-site Conference Suite which can be used for meetings and events
20% Off Admission…
To show our gratitude to all those who play the National Lottery and have helped to raise vital funds for charities, historical sites, wild life hotspots, theatres and art galleries the Museum is offering 20% off admission on Friday 22nd March and Saturday 23rd March 2025.
To gain 20% off admission to the Museum, all you have to do is show your National Lottery ticket, Instant Win Game or Scratch Card (physical or digital) at Reception upon your arrival.
The Museum will be open 10am – 4:30pm on these days. – Please note that last admission is at 3:45pm.
